Q: What is the weight limit for the pony?
A: 75 & 120 lbs. At no extra charge, we automatically bring THREE ponies!
The first to entertain for the children, is "Gingersnap", a tiny miniature horse, whom the kids may brush
glitter out of her coat (great fun!) and decorate her mane & tail with ribboned barrettes.
Second, "Kiowa" the pony gives hand led saddle rides for half the riding time. Her weight limit is 75
lbs, the average 7-8 yr old in size.
Lastly, "Misty" a small horse, gives hand led saddle rides for the second half of the riding time. Her
weight limit is 120 lbs. This allows older siblings or guests, to also enjoy a ride - even a TEEN could go
for a spin! Everyone gets to ride :-)
Another option - you may request only the mini & pony ... or the mini & horse ... or even no mini, if
preferred. It is flexible - let us know what works best for *your* special day!
.
Q: Will the ponies do harm to our lawn or fixtures?
Nope, not at all! Even the small Horse "Misty" will not harm the lawn - as long as the lawn is in a normal
dry state. When a lawn is saturated wet, such as soggy like after a big snow melt, or if it has been raining
hard for some time ... then we recommend the ponies give rides on the frontyard sidewalk, driveway, or
cul-de-sac.
We take extra care not to step on your sprinkler heads, or cause any harm to your backyard. We have
one attendant who leads the pony ... with a second attendant on the pony's other side (the spotter) ... this
gives us two sets of eyes to give sharp attention to all details ;-)
Q: May I hold my child's waist - instead of your attendant?
Of course! We always bring a spotter (extra attendant) who's purpose is to hold the waist of the young
riders. If a parent wishes to experience the pony ride with their child - the parent is welcome to hold
their little one's britches, instead of our attendant ;-)
Q: What sort of space / surface do we need for the ponies and the other fun activities?
A: The average backyard has plenty of room! Or, your front sidewalk is good, too. The pony needs at
least 6' wide x 15' long - bigger is better, of course. The games need the same amount of space. The
face painting / balloon animal table only needs a 5' x 5' space. The FP/BA table must be within sight of the
pony rides (in other words, can not have one in the frontyard, and the other in the backyard.) The ground
surface must be a flat surface - grass, dirt, concrete or tarmac. Pony may not give rides on sloped
surface or sharp rocks - however, it is ok for the pony to walk over these to get to the riding area..
Q: May we give the pony an apple? May we pet the pony? How about take our own photos?
A: The birthday child is welcome to give the pony one treat (with our attendant's assistance, so that little
fingers are not mistaken for carrots!) However, all the guests can not give the pony a treat, as just like
too much of a good thing will give a child a belly ache, so too for the pony.
Yes, our pony *loves* attention and to be petted! Parents are welcome with their cameras - just signal
our attendant, and she will even pose the pony for the best photo shot!
Q: Will the pony have an "accident" during the party? Will the pony eat my grass?
A: The pony will sometimes poop, however, we sweep it up immediately. And take it home with us!
Leaving only a fun time and happy memories behind!
The mini "Gingersnap" nibbles on the grass for a few minutes, while the kids enjoy her. We move her a
little, so that she does not nibble too much in any one spot. The riding ponies do not nibble while they
are giving rides. We take great care and never allow any of the ponies to eat your rose bushes, trees or
flowers!
Q: We are thinking of a swimming pool party - what about bounce castles, pinatas, or soccer/basketball
games, during the party? What about if we hire a Magician, too?
A: Face Paint washes off quickly with water, something to consider. It is ok with us, if that is ok with you.
Let us know if it is a pool party, and we will bring a towel for the pony saddle - so that the kids may ride,
even with wet bottoms! A bounce castle is ok - the pony just needs to be well away from it, as noisy air
compressors are awfully "scary monsters"! :-) Pinatas are fun - but the pony should be well away from
swinging bats and flying yummie candies - with that in mind, no reason not to enjoy a pinata! Items like
these, should wait until the end of the pony rides - not out while the ponies are out .... balls, nurf guns,
projectile toys, electric or petal cars, bicycles, horn party favors. Excited little kids don't realize it's not a
good idea to blast a horn in the pony's ear, or accidentally bounce a ball off a soft nose surprising the
pony while she's giving rides. So - please save these things until after the ponies are put away! :-)
We do not mind at all, if you wish to hire additional entertainers, no problem! :-)
Q: May I order just the Face Painting and no pony?
A: Yes. We are open from March.01 thru November.15, on the weekends Saturday & Sunday. On a
normal sunny weather day, when we drive into the city for parties, we all leave together (3 attendants, 3
ponies.) Due to the distance from our ranch to the city - there is no time to go back and drop off helpers
and ponies, to return into town, and then serve a Face Paint only party (no ponies.) As the helpers will
need to wait in our vehicle during the Painting-Only party (they are being paid for their waiting time) -- the
fee for a planned Painting-only party is equal to our lowest priced pony party.
The exception is ... we only go into town for a planned no-pony party, at the lower INDOOR ALTERNATE
RATES as a backup for snowy / rainy days, when a planned pony party is bad-weathered out.
Q: May our family or guests' dogs check out the pony?
A: Even little dogs sometimes wish to "protect" their family and "territory" (the backyard) from the "big
stranger" (the pony.) In a pony's eye, a chichuahua is Cujo! :-) Please have dogs put away during the
party, or on a leash. It is not the barking that bothers a pony - but being chased or bitten while givind
rides. If there is a loose dog, the pony ride must stop until the dog is put away, or leashed and kept away
from the ponies. This is an important safety point.
Q: How early do you arrive for setting things up?
A: We arrive to check in, 30 minutes before party start time. Payment is collected on arrival, then we set
up all the equipment. Sometimes we finish setup early, in which case, you will receive that extra fun time
complimentary!
Q: Is there a deposit?
A: Yes, a $10.00 non-refundable deposit guarantees your day and time! Exception: If the party is
canceled due to Bad Weather, or canceled with 30 or more days notice for any reason - then the $10
deposit *is* refundable. Deposit may be paid through a mailed check - or - online thru PayPal with your
credit card. (PayPal charges a processing fee - add $1.00, making a deposit thru PayPal $11.00 total.)
Q: May I make payments?
A: In recent years, we have often been asked if we take payments - for the parents' convenience.
If this is preferred, yes we can do! A receipt is promptly emailed for each payment, noting the check #
and the new amount due on party day.
Q: I want to book my party - what's the next step?
A: Email questions welcome anytime! However, reservations are only accepted via phone, as this
ensures accurate scheduling. When you call, we will fill out an order form over the phone, and email
(same day) your Temporary Hold. We allow several mailing days for the $10.00 deposit to arrive (personal
check, money order or may request a PayPal Invoice to be sent.) The day the deposit arrives, your party
is confirmed, and we email a Confirmation Letter (which is your receipt.)
We also give a short courtesy call the day before your party. Many parents hire us several months
before their party, and have not spoken with us between. It is always nice to "touch base" the day before
the party. Calls welcome anytime!
On the day of the party, during check-in, the balance is due ... balance is cash only (no checks, no cards,
on party day.)
Q: What is your Bad Weather policy?
A: Definition for qualification of "Bad Weather" : APRP verifies weather the night before and morning of
each party day at www.Weather.com - this site gives an hourly forecast for your zip code! :-) If 24 hours
before party time, the weather forecast at www.Weather.com is showing party time forecast below 45 -
or - 30% chance or more of rain/snow - then you may choose from these options:
(1) Cancel with a refund of your deposit
(2) Reschedule, deposit goes towards new date
(3) Indoor Alternate, this package is designed for cases where the parent wishes the party to continue,
but to move it indoors. Where the parent does not wish to be "stuck" with all the kids in the house and
no entertainer! ;-) See below for details on the Indoor Alternate package.
The parent may decide what they wish to do, in case of Bad Weather, the day before party day (not
later than 6:00pm deadline.)
INDOOR ALTERNATE : The original Trip Fee is added to the Indoor Alternate package. The prices
below are for parties up to 12 children - for groups over 12 children, add $45 per 30 minutes extra, which
covers an additional 5 children.
